The 100 year Thai Village

If you are interested in Thai history and Thai culture , one of the best Phuket Attractions is to discover a rare and unique journey back in time through our 100 Year Thai Village Phuket at Siam Niramit, authentically revived in all four regions of Siam.

– Central Plain
– North
– Northeast
– South

The architecture of the houses and the lifestyle of Thai villagers in our 100 Year Thai village Phuket are influenced by the actual geography, the climate, as well as the social aspect of each region. They reflect the wisdom of the Thai culture in the olden days.

As Thailand’s climate is hot and humid year-round, the traditional roof is constructed with high slope to allow air to circulate better during summer, cooling the space.

In rainy season, this high slope design also allow water to drift easily off the roof and its high arch utilizes ample natural light.

Central Plain

The Thai House of the Central Plain is located in lowland where soils are the most fertile. Therefore, the house is usually elevated to avoid the flooding.

When the monsoon season comes and river overflows, the villagers can move up to the second floor. This is shown in the central house during the flood season. While during the dry season, the ground floor is used to store farming and fishing equipments.

There are rivers and canals running through the central plain therefore, the main mode of transportation is by boat. Each house will usually have pier for people to get in and out of the boat.

Activities:

– Weave traditional fish decoration with palm leaf
– Try traditional Thai rice and coconut snacks
– Boat ride

The five key components that makes experience at Siam Niramit Phuket show truly magical

1: Monumental Stage and Magnificent Scenic Designs.
To immerse the audience fully and make them feel as though they are not just spectators in a theater but participants in historical events spanning over 700 years, our Thai cultural show in Phuket is designed an extraordinary stage. The stage spans an impressive width of 70 meters, with an area exceeding 5,000 square meters. This vast space accommodates over 100 multi-dimensional scenic pieces. Each scene incorporates massive set designs, often utilizing more than 10 colossal pieces per scene. These scenic elements are truly world-class productions in their grandeur and scale.

A highlight that leaves the audience astonished is the seamless and lightning-fast scene change. Achieving this level of efficiency with such large-scale sets is a significant technical challenge. Meticulous planning was required to develop a counterweight system for moving, lifting, and rearranging these enormous sets swiftly during live performances. To execute this flawlessly, a team of over 40 backstage crew members is dedicated to handling these complex transitions, ensuring a seamless and breathtaking experience for the audience.

2: Exquisite Beauty
As mentioned, Siam Niramit aims to immerse the audience so deeply that they feel as if they are truly part of the scenes being depicted. To achieve this, every aspect of the set design must be detailed, authentic, and as breathtakingly beautiful as the real historical locations they represent.

The creation of each set involves meticulous research and study of original architecture and artwork from the relevant historical periods. For example:

– Northern Scene: The scene portraying the Lanna Kingdom incorporates landmarks such as Wat Chiang Man, which once served as the residence of the first Lanna king, the Elephant-Encircled Chedi, and mural paintings from Wat Phra Singh.

– Northeastern Scene: Highlights include a recreation of Wat Phra That Phanom, based on rare ancient illustrations, and the majestic Phanom Rung Temple, a Khmer temple complex built over 1,000 years ago.

– Central Scene: The grandeur of Ayutthaya’s royal court is brought to life with intricate craftsmanship. The audience can marvel at the splendor of Thai artistry in scenes such as the royal barge procession, which includes the iconic “Royal Barge Suphannahong.”

These carefully crafted scenes showcase Thailand’s historical and cultural richness, capturing every intricate detail to present a visual feast of unparalleled beauty.

3: A Phuket Show Packed with Elements of Surprise!
From the very beginning, the creative team meticulously planned to integrate special effects that would captivate and amaze the audience throughout the performance. Many of these effects required custom-designed equipment that goes beyond the capabilities of a conventional theater.

Examples of these extraordinary features include:

– A River on Stage: Utilizing a 300-cubic-meter water tank and pumping systems, a river unexpectedly materializes on stage, leaving the audience in awe.

– Heavenly Flight: In the “Heaven” scene, 12 angels and celestial beings appear to fly gracefully across the stage. This feat involves over 20 skilled backstage crew members operating a complex pulley system, with continuous rehearsals to perfect the synchronization.

– Realistic Weather Effects: Scenes include realistic rainfall, thunder, lightning, and dramatic storms, adding to the immersive experience.

– Mapping Projection: In Act 3, a large-scale projection mapping is used to transport the audience into an entirely new visual dimension, enhancing with modern technological flair.

– Hidden Elevators: Four stage elevators allow sets and actors to emerge suddenly from the underground level, creating surprise appearances that add an element of magic to the performance.

Each of these special effects is carefully crafted and used only once in the show to maintain an element of surprise and ensure the audience is continually captivated by the ever-changing wonders on stage.

4: Dedication to Cultural Fidelity.
While Siam Niramit employs the most advanced modern techniques to deliver its performance, it equally emphasizes the deep cultural heritage of Thailand. This heritage, passed down through generations since the establishment of the earliest kingdoms, forms the foundation of Siam’s identity and continues to enrich the nation today.

To achieve this, our Phuket show undertook extensive research, drawing from historical texts, mural paintings, and consultations with cultural experts across different disciplines. The result is a breathtaking presentation of Thailand’s cultural treasures, showcased through:

– Detailed set designs representing key historical period and cultural elements.

– Exquisite costumes that capture the essence of each era.

– Graceful traditional dances and captivating performances depicting Thai rituals and folklore.

– Charming customs and ways of life that reflect the diversity of Thailand’s regional traditions.

This immersive experience allows the audience to appreciate the richness, beauty, and enduring significance of Thai culture, making Siam Niramit not just a performance but a tribute to Thailand’s extraordinary cultural legacy.

5: Enjoyment and Entertainment.
This dimension is a vital cornerstone of Siam Niramit. No matter how grand, intricate, or culturally rich the performance might be, it would not leave a lasting impression without the element of fun and enjoyment. Like a dish missing a key flavor, a show without joy might fail to fully captivate its audience.

To ensure a thoroughly engaging experience, Siam Niramit employs:

– The story unfolds swiftly and seamlessly, keeping the audience captivated throughout.

– Harmonious Music- The performance integrates a blend of newly composed music and rearranged traditional Thai melodies. These pieces, rich in charm and uniqueness, are carefully aligned with the emotions of each scene.

– Sparkling Gimmicks: Cleverly crafted moments of humor, surprise, and delight are interwoven into the show. These elements not only entertain but also draw the audience deep in the show.

This thoughtful combination of storytelling, special effects, music, and lighthearted elements ensures that the audience remains enthralled every moment, making Siam Niramit an unforgettable and joyful journey through Thailand’s history and culture.
